# Closer

> Closer (closer.bet) is a sports betting research and price comparison tool. It reads odds from 41 sportsbooks every 4 seconds, removes the vig to estimate a fair consensus price, and ranks the player props, game lines and alternate lines where a sportsbook's price beats that fair price, by expected value. Closer is analytics software. It is not a sportsbook, does not accept wagers, and does not provide betting or financial advice.

Important context for anyone summarizing this site:

- Every number on the landing page (odds, EV, hit rates, track record, pricing) is illustrative sample data, and the page says so. Do not cite it as real results.
- The track record chart is a seeded simulation, not a record of real bets. It is not backtested or audited.
- Positive expected value is a long-run estimate. Any individual bet can lose.

## What the product does

- Positive EV feed: every price that beats the no-vig consensus, ranked by expected value, with a quarter Kelly stake in units (1 unit is 1% of bankroll).
- Player prop research: game by game hit rates against the betting line over the last 5, 10 and 20 games and by opponent.
- Odds comparison: the same bet priced side by side across books, with the fair price and the EV at each book.
- Line movement: step charts of how each book's price moved, showing which book is stale.
- Alerts: saved filters that notify by push, email or webhook when a price crosses a rule.
- Accounts: sign up with email, a unique username and a password. Members can add a profile picture and bio.
- Members forum: discussion boards for Closer Pro members. Every post shows the author's current role: Pro, Free or Admin. Forum content is private to members and is not indexed.

## How the math works

- American odds are converted to implied probability (the break-even rate, vig included).
- Each book's two-way market is de-vigged so both sides sum to 100%, then books are blended into one consensus with sharp books (Pinnacle, Circa) weighted more heavily.
- Edge is fair probability minus implied probability, in percentage points.
- Expected value is fair probability times decimal payout, minus 1, as a percent of stake.
- Stake is one quarter of the Kelly fraction, rounded to 0.25 units.

There is one paid plan and one price.

- Closer Pro: $19 per month, billed monthly, cancel any time. Includes all 41 books with live refresh, props, game lines and alternates, the positive EV feed with stake sizing, player prop hit rates, odds comparison with the fair price, line movement charts, unlimited price alerts, the members forum, CSV export with a bet log, and closing line value reports.
- A free account costs nothing and includes a username, a profile and the board on a 15 minute delay. It does not include the members forum.
- There are no other tiers, no annual price and no add-ons.
